Q- How do i get it to work on windows 7 / vista 64 bit
A - First of all you must use a 32 bits
office version. Outlook 2003,2007 or 2010 is fine but it must be 32 bits. If it
does not work after running the installer you can fix this by doing the
Both commands should give you a postive feedback and then it will work.
Q - Does it work on terminal server or Cytrix ?
A - Yes, but make sure that the users have full access to the c:\outlookdisclaimer directory and all files in it.
Q - What's the difference between your product and standard Outlook signatures?
- The standard Outlook signature must be created on every workstation. OpusFlow Disclaimer runs on the workstation but it gets his configuration from the server in the network. To change the disclaimer for the entire company, only one file has to be adjusted on the network
- The standard Outlook signature is profile dependant. It is stored on the workstation.
- OpusFlow Disclaimer can lookup information from the Active Directory or Exchange 5.x directory. This way the same configuration file produces different signatures for different people.
- OpusFlow Disclaimer creates signatures using
the configuration from the network. Running a campaign to advertise your new
website or event as the last line in everybody's email is easy. It requires no
user intervention because you control their signature.
Q - How to add a background picture to the body of outgoing emails?
A - Use the following html tag in your OutlookDisclaimer.ini : <body background="c:\outlookdisclaimer\picture.gif">
Q - The logo should be in another position.
A - Remove the <logo> tag from the Sequence section and, in one of the data sections (for instance the [Signature] section), add the following to one of the lines like this.
SignatureDataLine7=<p><a href="http://www.website.com"><img border="0" src="file:///C:/outlookdisclaimer/logo.gif" width="48" height="48"></a></p>
You can alternatively put this in one of the fields of the active directory and use a different path for every user.
Q - I need a table-like signature configuration with the logo in the bottom right corner.
A - Here's an example for that. EXTENSION_ATTRIBUTE_3 in line 8 will pull the information from the active directory. That info can be a picture definition like in the previous question.
Q - I see strange behaviour like multiple copies of the sent message in my own inbox, incorrect insertion of the disclaimer and more.
A - Upgrade to the last service pack available for your office version. Click here and have your pc scanned by Microsoft. Install all recommended updates.
Q - I have 'x' users. How many licenses do we need ?
A - One license as long as everyone is connected to the same server, using the same central OutlookDisclaimer.ini
Q - Do you have a minimal install to run from script?
A - Using this registry key and batch file you should be able to install it if your pc's have the required support files. If you have all office and windows patches in place this should not be a problem. (NOTE: The registry file must be edit for windows 2000 pc's.. in that case remove the last line "CommandLineSafe"=dword:00000000 from it)
If your users are not allowed to install
software you could use the Runas function in windows to start the batch file but
that prompts the user for a password. Alternative tools are available to
In addition to the above:
When you order a company or enterprise version we can supply you with a silent installation file.
Q - To pull a users info from Exchange 5.5, do I just have to fill in the information under each users mailbox?
A - Yes. The Exchange directory lookup or Active Directory lookup is individual. You can do great things with it. Every user can have a different signature.
Q - How can I create a test version for when we change the signature? So I can make sure it's ok before dishing it out to everyone.
A - Do your testing in the local CachedDisclaimer.ini on c:\OutlookDisclaimer. Rename it before you restart Outlook or you will lose your changes.
Q - The exclude section is not working. It adds the disclaimer to recipients in our own domain. We have an email address of type 'a.b.com'
A - Specify 'a.b' as the excluded domain not just 'a'
Q - How to align information fields?
A - Use the html table element in your outlookdisclaimer.ini (make sure to disable line break adding for that section)
<div align="left"><table border="0"
Q - There are a lot of blank lines (gaps) in-between two data blocks. How do I remove them.
A - At the bottom of the OutlookDisclaimer.ini
file you'll find the [HTMLSettings] section.
Remove YES there so it looks like this:
Now make sure to add the html tag for a new line <br/> behind every line in you signature and other data blocks.
